The Two Sergeants Moments Prior to the Assailant Got Stunned

One senior officer who rushed to the aid of a colleague who was ambushed by a knifeman has been awarded the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a knife to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.

Sergeant Ansell received two open wounds to his neck and more cuts to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.

Authorities said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's blood loss prior to paramedics arrived.

The new award arrives subsequent to the three officers received organizational Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in spring 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Valor Recognition in mid-2024.

"The responses of all three officers ultimately rescued themselves and ensured no members of the public suffered any injuries."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, according to the department.
